God speed the day. However, I think not. The political elite (land owners) have far too much to loose and will never allow it. In the meantime they will allow a shadow democracy to operate so long as it lets them keep their positions of power - Church and State - if you see what I mean.
The Americans had the right idea a separation of Church and State. Thus it is the American people who rule and not a church or indeed the state, in spite of what people think.
It's all there in the Constitution somewhere and since most Americans think of it as holy writ, woe betide anyone who tries to 'fix it' for themselves, as it were.
You need your head examining if you think the English feel they are being got at. On the contrary, it is they who rule the UK and no one else. As a Welsh Londoner I am witness to this truth. The English are and always have been soft on the outside and hard on the inside. Don't mess with them.

I can only charitably assume that you were overfull of the Christmas spirit when you posted this. No one can declare independance from Britain as that is merely a geographical expression. The state od which England is a constiruent part is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The rest of your post is, quite honestly, red neck USA-centric guff. England cannot declare independance from Britain. Britain is an island so if England were to become independent of it this would mean physically cutting Scotland and Wales adrift and letting them float away into the oceans.
