I think you have been watching to many Russian mafia movies. An Irishman in Russia would be just as safe as a Russian in Ireland. Its great you can speak Russian, but its time to get out of the books and get some life experience, knowing the language will be of great help to you and may win you some friends and maybe even a relationship there.
ALL people are safe in Russia, safer than many other countries. no guns, little PERSONAL crime, (like wlaking and being attacked). criminals usually target rivals, and that is not visitors. for 22 years, i have walked in towns, cities, and villages even well after dark, many times always safely.
Irish look Russian, anyway, until you try to speak Russian OR English!
Provided you respect the rules and culture, you would be made to feel very welcome. The major cities are far safer than in the west (okay, the roads aren't for the faint hearted) but ghetto and no-go areas don't really exist. I would take Moscow's metro over London's underground any day!
Well, you are not Asian or Middle-eastern, so you will not get the worst of Russian nationalism. But Ireland is almost Britain, who is the closest ally of the US in its anti-Russiasn crusade.
No, of cource! There is bears with balaikas and accordeons drive bicycles against the rules of traffic drinking vodka. What a nonsense of permanent resident of psychiatric hospital! There live people of dozens foreign nations and they are still alive. What do you worse than them?
Your biggest problem will be getting a visa that allows you to live in Russia, especially if you are not fluent in the language.
russians are very kind and friendly people, i dont know why you are even asking such a question. and your knowlidge of russian will be big plus for you
Stop messing with Russia - screw you nick JOHN
