Approximately 75 % of the modernday population are basically Bulgarian , another 20 % are Albanian , and the remaining 5 % a mixture of all-sorts .
It's spelled Macedonians and yes, they are Greek. Alexander the Great was Greek Macedonian who was born in the capital of ancient Macedonia which was Pella.
The people of Fyrom claim to be Macedonians but actually are Slavs who migrated to the Balkan area in 6AD. They have absolutely no relation to the ancient Macedonians even if they claim they do.
Alexander the Great was a Greek from the north of Ancient Greece, which is today part of the country Macedonia.
Modern Macedonians are Slavic peoples a minority of them have Greek heritage (most Macedonians are just Bulgarians). Modern Macedonia is a Slavic country while Ancient Macedonia was part of Ancient Greece.
Macedonians try to call Alexander the Great a Macedonian but he was a Greek not a Slav. Macedonia isn't a very successful country so they want to steal Greek history.
Some countries have nothing to show for themselves so they try to borrow someone else's history.
Macedonians were one of the many races that was Greek. They were educated and raised as Greeks and has not connection with the current so called Macedonians of FYROM, who are tryin to surpass the historic truth based only on the fact that they arrived on the same area ancient Macedonians lived, many centuries before them.
However, recent excavations taking place in Amphipolis, a major city of ancient Macedonians, will once again prove their claims to be fraudulent.
No. But today Greeks claim to be Macedonians too. In the same time ?!
If you mean people from FYROM, they are more genetically Greek than anything else. Linguistically they're Slavs, but genetically they're Greek. Slovenians for example are a huge mix of Venetians, Slavs, Celtics, Vikings... but are considered Slavs because of the language.
Don't listen to Greeks who have a beef with them. There are studies available on the internet that prove people from FYROM are genetically mostly Greeks.
