Are P.I.G.S considered white?

P.I.G.S = Portuguese, Italians, Greeks, Spaniards

Do Europeans consider these peoples to be white? Because here in the US, most of these people look no different than people from Mexico and South America and I just can't see how they are white.

P.I.G.S. as you call them are not like the people from Mexico or Central America or most parts of South America. Most Mexicans and Central/South Americans are mixed with Latin and Amerindian heritage. Even though some of the Europeans who live near the Mediterranean region are also have a Latin heritage and a bit swarthy in complexion they are not the same ethnicity as those in the Americas. Its the absence of the Amerindian influence that makes the difference for the Europeans. These days its tricky to draw hard lines about this though because there is so much interbreeding among ethnic groups. There are many American Latinos who are mixed with white who look very Caucasian and there are many Italians and Spaniards with darker skin who look like traditional American Latinos. It is the actual background of the person that determines ethnicity, not their skin color or looks. To give you an example of what I mean, there are some Americans who are mixed with black and white, and you could never tell that they have any black in them because they look totally white...yet, many of these individuals prefer to identify themselves as black or mixed race rather than white.

Ok first of all Portuguese and Spanish are European; they are not at all the same as Mexico and Brazil....Latin America has Native mixtures, there fore not really white....but where less of a native influence such as Chile, Argentina, Cuba.....many are very white due to Spaniard ancestry...even within Europe mixtures occurred....France was originally a Germanic Kingdom before they spoke French.....much of eastern Germany was ancient Slavic lands...that have went back and forth

YYes.

It's not like the border between North America and Middle / South America, where the physical differences are noticable because you got countries where the descendants of European settlers are in the majority on the one side and people whose ancestors lived in America for millennia on the other side.

Within Europe, there has always been a certain degree of exchange between the different countries and as a result, there are many people in the countries you mentioned who look just the same as Central Europeans. There are also some features I sorta think of as “typically” Mediterranean, but they are not different enough to be seen as a separate race.

es. It's not like the border between North America and Middle / South America, where the physical differences are noticable because

In the northern parts of Italy they are white, in the central and southern parts they look like arabs.

It's the same with the spanish, there are some white and some who have darker features.

I'd say that portuguese and Greeks are rarely white, but there are some.

If these people you claim to see look like average Mexicans, they aren't real Spaniards.People from Spain don't and cannot have native Amerindian features like mestizos do, because they don't have Amerindians in Europe.

you can consider us as you want... unlike some countries who canno identify their origins usually we have centuries of identifiable ancestors all from the same place...

Whatever color they are, most Europeans like it:
