Are the Netherlands and holland the same country?

Posted at: 2015-06-30
Most Dutch prefer saying Netherlands, the official name of the country is Kingdom of the Netherlands. The Dutch are calling their country Nederland. (Netherlands is the Englisch translation. En even for some Dutch hard to pronounce)

Holland is easy for foreigners (and some Dutch wenn they are talking English) to call the country. But its like saying England instead of Brittain and America instead of United states of America.

By the way;

This question has already been asked so many times n yahoo answers. If you search for answers using Holland and Netherlands you find them with a lot of answers. or use https://answers.yahoo.com/search/search_...

Strictly speaking, noordholland and zuidholland are just two out of the 12 provinces of the netherlands

When most people say "Holland" they really mean "The Netherlands." Holland is actually a region within the modern Netherlands, and people there can get testy about it. Further complicating matters, during the Napoleonic wars, the whole Netherlands region was called "The Kingdom of Holland". And since the modern concept of studying history basically began with the Napoleonic era, the name has stuck.

Holland is part of the Netherlands.
