Gandia is situated on the Costa del Azahar and the nearest airport is Valencia, about 45mins away. The beach at Playa de Gandia is one of the finest Spanish beaches and is very popular with the ''Madrile?os'' as a holiday resort, particularly in July/August.

Depends on what you mean by beach. Cadiz is a good place as it is less touristy than Malaga. Valencia is quite a nice place but it is party central in the Summer especially around the Las Fallas festival. Barcelona has great beaches and lots of culture too (though not "Spanish" technically as the local ethnicity is considered "Catalan"), but it can be very urban there. If surfing, Basque culture and great food are your thing (if you can sense my bias here) you might want to check out San Sebastian in the north east. If you do that you can also take a day trip to France as its easy to drive around that part of the country.
Good luck
Definitely Barcelona: fantastic beach, fantastic culture, all sorts of things to do, and a fun atmosphere. It is lively, but you can avoid the areas where the bars and clubs are if you don't like those sorts of things, as there are also very nice, peaceful areas.
Valencia is also a good bet for the type of holiday you are looking for: it's a pleasant city but not too over-powering. It has a lovely Old Town with plenty of cultural attractions, an attractive port area, and 3km of splendid beaches. The climate is also fantastic.
You wont get Spanish culture in the holiday resorts as they are full of holiday makers mainly from UK, Germany and Sweden, you would have to go inland to get culture but if you want a beach resort Alcudia in Majorca is the best of all the resorts and I have been to them all, take lots of spending money as food and drink is 3 times UK prices, Good Luck
Sitges, San Sebastian, Laredo, Comillas, Chipiona, Tarifa, Port de Pollensa, etc.
I must agree with LedHead. Best summer place ever. But Palma de Mallorca is also nice. Ive been in both places and i loved them both. And if you need a hotel room and cheap flight ticket, try http://www.expedia.no
Costa de sol, 3
less than 30 minutes in any direction - typical spanish pueblos, good beaches, hotels restaurants, night life, shopping..................
Dear kajjs:
Look NO Further then BARCELONA, my friend!
I'm going to Spain with my family this summer and I'm looking for a busy town with a nice beach and nightlife but not too party crazy. Some place with both foreign and Spanish visitors so I can get to experience Spanish culture.
