If you want a getaway take a coach of the company Sarfa and go to Cadaqués, at the Costa Brava, also in Catalonia like Barcelona.

If you want a shorter trip, take a commuter's train southwards and get off at Sitges, also an interesting and nice place, even if more hectic than Cadaqués. Sitges is a popular destination for gays from all over the world but there is also place for people who are not.
Sitges is a nice old fashioned holiday resort under an hour south of Barcelona by train or car.. Sitges is the Brighton of Barcelona.
One of the best beaches (by car) to the south is in Vilanova i la Geltru. Drive around the town bypass and turn left at the roundabout at the end of town and the bypass . Drive down to the sea. There is free parking !!! and a nice quiet beach to the left.
The Costa Brava is beautiful but is a longer journey.

1) San Sebastiá : San Sebastiá is easily accessible since it's not a long walk from metro stop Barceloneta on the yellow line. There are also several bus lines that stop next to this beach.
2) La Barceloneta : You can access la Barceloneta by metro, taking the yellow line to either La Barceloneta or Ciutadella Vila Olímpica.
3) Nova Icaria : The nearest metro stop is Ciutadella Vila Olimpica. But there are buses too, and they stop a bit closer to the beach than the metro.
4) Bogatell : Bogatell can be easily reached by bus. The nearest metro stop is Bogatell, but from there it still is quite a long walk to the beach.
5) Mar Bella : The nearest metro stops are Poblenou and Llacuna.

I'm a 34 yr old man who is traveling to Europe for a couple of football matches. I'm looking for suggestions for a beach getaway within a few of hours of Barcelona to unwind after the match and before I head back to the states. I like to have fun, but not Ibiza fun as I need some R & R. I'll be traveling alone....any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
