Holiday destinations in southern Europe like Mallorca, Costa del Sol and Rhodes are a bit risky with regard to the weather. However, if you don't mind the risk for a few days without perfect beach weather I would recommend Mallorca. The holiday resorts of Cala Mayor and Ca'n Pastilla are both close to Palma de Mallorca which offers splendid shopping conditions and very authentic tapas bars in the side streets. A romantic activity is the old train to the beautiful seaside resort of Port de Sóller.
If you go in October it will be cool in most of Spain but Costa Del Sol will still be slightly warmer. Take lots of spending money as Spain is double UK prices
