Best place to go on holiday in Spain?

Where's the best place for a relaxing week in Spain? Not too over commercialized, nice scenery and beaches and suitable for families? More than one suggestion would be great :)

Family fun and warming sun. Lovely local food (known for it) and safe as houses.

Biggest aquarium in Europe, swim with sharks if you want (with instructors haha), fantastic huge science and art theme park, beautiful botanical gardens, huge marina, party atmosphere at night, wonderful architecture, loads of quiet places, good beaches and plenty of places to visit in the area.

Can't go wrong for young and old.........Valencia.

See Barcelona on here...Valencia is a much better choice.

Small place, right down the south west tip. Fabulous kite surfing beach with hundreds of colourful kites and constant surf.

A cosy little main street in the old town a whole 100 yards long all the way from the cafe at the end to the better one half way along and a joy to sit outside and relax and then a long long forty yards to the San Mateo church.

A castle...big one. Well built one, did a good job on that did Guzman.

Good old Guzman the Good who saved the town.......

A lovely Alameda, a joy to sit around and take in the view.

Hills all around but spoiled by loads of rusty old wind turbines for that wind the surfers also want.

Mile upon mile of unspoiled western beach and a mile of dunes near the town, paradise of lazy beach-dune living.

Causeway to Palomar island, military property and can't go in but a lovely walk anyway, with the Med on one side and the Atlantic on the other, and with signs to say so.

The Rif Mountains across the water in Morocco and a seacat fast catamaran ferry that will get you to Tangiers in 35 minutes across the straits for a day trip to Morocco.

Large harbour and a marina and a harbourside road of shops and cafes and tour agents.

It was the first port to charge incoming merchant ships for berthing, thereby collecting a tax on imports, everything all at once, the whole inventory and the Arabs named it from their word for an inventory...Ta'rif

We use it now, that word.

A Tarif as a charge on things.

In the west, the port that Ferdinand Magellan sailed from to go sightseeing round the world.

Old lanes and cobbled streets in mystical light on early morning walks with mist wrapping the watery Sun and it's beams of brightness lighting rows of houses and their potted flowers like an old romantic painting

Moorish architecture in the town centre and a splendid little big theatre standing proudly in it's square, the maritime museum and a beautiful bay and pleasant beach, gardens by the sea wall tiled throughout and with tiled seats and a pleasure to walk around, and the botanical gardens with massive specimen trees and flocks of silver wings sparkling in swift encircling flight around them.

A cafe with good food and plenty of tables outside to relax there and enjoy the view of silver sparkles and dark green foliage against the blue and white of western Andalucian skies, and those lucky Cadizians can do it every day.

Cadiz. O joy of joys.

Inland but with an artificial beach in the Isla Majica park on the Isla Cartuja across the impressive Barqueta bridge.

Or this one.....El Alamillo

O magic Seville but a heat trap in mid summer. Sevillians go away then to somewhere cooler.

I'll never tire of Seville. Ever.

In my opinion Benidorm, you have basically everything there.

Benidorm has it's teenage bars and clubs and ofcourse many british pubs.

But Benidorm has a really nice huge beach and old town, including traditional tapas and restaurants. The old town has whitewashed streets and a amazing church, plaza del castell with it's amazing views over the sea. For Kids benidorm has theme parks Terra Mitica, Aqua parks Terra Natura and Aqualandia and a animal park Mundomar. You can also visit the Peacock island with regular boat trips from Benidorms harbour.

Benidorm is'nt far from small cultural spanish towns such as Altea, Callosa (including an amazing waterfall), Albir and Guadalest all within 20 minutes drive. Alicante is 45 minutes down the road.

Benidorm has over 200 resorts to choose from the ITV 1 comedy Benidorm is shot at the Sol Pelicanos/Ocas this is a middle range hotel with a fantastic pool and brand new rooms in the Ocas.

Give Benidorm a try you'll enjoy it, it ticks your boxes lol!

Magaluf on Majorca would be a good choice. There is a waterpark there for the kids. Benidorm on the Costa Del Sol is another one.

Costa del Sol........................................ has everything.

Alesha - by the way Benidorm is NOT on the Costa del Sol!

It is Benalmadena on this Costa.
