You have mixed up your question about immigration with historical rubbish. So you are forgetting several important points:
1) Great Britain abolished slavery in 1833, years before it effectively finished in the USA (1865) - as an American you should know this. Actually, there were very few slaves in Britain at any time so it did not affect many people; but it took many years before it finally disappeard from the southern states of "Dixie". It's very arrogant (or ignorant) of you not to get that fact right. So please don't be so arrogant as to give us lectures about that.
2) Before you rant you should get your historical facts right: Slavery was practised in Africa for hundreds of years before the western nations began their slave trade. The slaves which were transported from west Africa to the Carribean and the Americas were actually captured by Africans and sold on to the traders - so they were already captives before they even saw a white man.
3) The USA practised apartheid in some states well into the 1970s. It NEVER happened in the UK. When American army divisions came to the UK during the Second World War it was the British people who were shocked and horrified at the way the Americans treated and separated their black soldiers. WE made them all equally welcome.
4) The Tudors were only one of many dynastic families who exercised the powers of the monarchy. I just think that Americans have never heard of the rest of them. Slavery was not practised in England by the Tudors. There were some people who were indentured to their local lords for their living, but these were not slaves and could not be bought, sold or abused in the way that a slave would be.
5) The Tudors and other royal dynastys were powers WITHIN the land - the empire was an expression of Britain's power BEYOND the land. So it is not correct to mix the two enties - they are different.
6) There was never enough evidence to prove beyond reasonable doubt that Richard III murdered the "Princes in the Tower". If there had been then he would have had to face a trial at the time. There is still nothing more than the "balance of probabilities" that he was responsible. You should afford the king the same legal right as anybody else. That is, his guilt must be proven to the criminal standard of "beyond reasonable doubt"; and so far that cannot be done.
7) As for original question - "why don't we want immigrants?" The simple reason is that we are a small island and are already overcrowded. There are 60 million people living in Great Britain, and most of them are in the south of England. There is simply not enough room to take in more without causing very severe problems of loss of farm land and open spaces, continuous road congestion, overcrowded trains, stressed and overloaded infrastructure like gas, electricity, water, sewerage, roads, schools, medical and police services etc. This is why the United Kingdom has strict rules for who is legally allowed to come here to live and work. The restrictions are nothing to with race or skin colour.
The population density of Great Britain is over 300 people per square kilometre; the population density of the USA is 33 people per square kilometre. OUR ISLAND IS FULL. So why doesn't the USA take in more of the worlds' migrants any more?
6) In fact the only thing you say that is right is that powerful rulers tended to kill their rivals. Thankfully that has not happened in England since the execution of King Charles 1 in 1649. The executions of his killers by Charles II was not "killing rivals" but done for revenge.
7) The murder, assinations or whatever you want to call it, of rival rulers probably happens in some countries. But do you have actual evidence of any of these which is good enough to stand up in a court of law? I bet you don't. But even if some counties' leaders do kill political rivals that is irrelevant - we don't have these in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
Some points to ponder before your next rant:
Africans had their own slaves too
Was Richard 3rd greedy? Maybe he was saving England from the corrupt Woodville family.
Were the Princes murdered on orders by him or his rival Henry Tudor?
Most of the English were the equivelent of slaves from Roman times until the Rennaisance.
Highest power in the Tudor dynast? Surely the British Empire was more significant?
Killing rivals was fairly normal everywhere in those times. It still goes on in some countries.
ASKER: England is a tiny country not like America. They cannot absorb thousands of African migrants day after day. It is unreasonable to take care of all of those people who want to be in England for welfare. There are many countries without war they could go to in Europe.
i think the people that fed and clothed and hired people in the 1800's have long since passed away...i also think you'll find that beating the racism drum is a bit old-hat and tiring... colour and culture add to the melting pot ... fact is even though the help we can give immigrants is bountiful in their eyes and hearts, that "help" is subsequently bled from organisations and departments within our society and from a population with an already meagre existence
We have no issue with people immigrating into our country
It the the numbers and reasons that are the issue.
But,your "question" is more of a rant and completely untrue and several hundred years out of relevence
im fine with immingrant staying in my ountry. UNLESS.
- they don't work
- they drink around and cause havoc on the streets
- they just generally make life a painful loud mess
Also you are now stereotyping us brits! If you act like that no wonder you are rejected...
And straightening your hair doesn't mean your "like us" sweetie.
We are happy to let in anyone, regardless of race, creed, or skin colour, provided they are educated and experienced. Too educated and too experienced to write a foolish, ignorant and poorly-expressed rant like yours.
As an American citizen you are entitled to spend up to six months in the UK on a tourist visa.
We are not interested in your hairstyle.
Slavery was confined to the Americas, and we abolished it.
Helps to KNOW Britain is NOT just ENGLAND....Who says? Many of us are OF IMMIGRANT STOCK....
You do know that that's history, right? None of the people currently alive in the UK were even alive for that, let alone responsible.
