British expats in Spain?

What are a few of your favourite things about living in Spain? In comparison to the uk? And would you recommend a young couple in their 20s to move? (family also live there)

Favourite things.

The weather is better than in the UK. So you can plan a BBQ and know it will happen. The warm sea, the beaches, the mountains. The Bars life as you call it. The French would call it Café society. Low council tax.

It is a great place for kids. It is so much freer and safer than England.

Political correctness does not exist but you are not allowed to insult people

If you have a good job , life is great.

l have lived expat on 3 continents, including living in the south of Spain.

First off, do you have a job? Because when l visited last summer, it was

so quiet, everywhere, you could hear a pin drop. Nothing is happening

right now, and unemployment among the young is running at over 30%

When we were living there in the mid 00's there was all kinds of construction

and visitors, and lots going on.

We loved living in Spain, and did not live in a bar. Many people in the UK

also live in a bar, from what l have seen, so l discount that totally. There

are many things to do that don't involve drinking, from salsa dancing to

painting, hiking to scuba. Just like anywhere, you make your life how

you want to make your life.

You already have family there, so part of your support system would be

built in. l would just wonder how you would sustain yourselves, and make

money.

A young couple...do you have any way to find a job?

Unemployment in Spain is around 20 - 45%, depending on your demographic.

"Rule Number one, never become an expat, you will end up living your life in a bar, with a nose the colour of a cherry and the size of a moon"

- the words of Jeremy Clarkson

Always look at the practicalities before you start over-romanticising things, otherwise make sure you can at least afford the airfare straight home >> http://www.tumbit.com/blogs/775-how-not-...
