Not at all. We have a much longer history and in that time have produced more scientific discoveries and inventions.
And what on earth does anyone need guns for? We allow them for sport, and for farmers to control vermin. Having an almost total ban on them otherwise keeps us all safer. And the tradition of unarmed police (our police don't carry guns except for the firearms squad who get called out when needed) feels nice and civilised.
As for the rest, we have all that too, just on a smaller scale. It's nice. Even better, we don't border any geological tectonic plates so we have no volcanoes and any earthquakes are only little ones. The total death toll in the UK from earthquakes is precisely ONE! Which was about 200 years ago - the person got hit by a tile falling off a church roof.
I've visited the US a few times, and OK it has spectacular things, but its politics is all wrong to me and I wouldn't want to live there.
Brits needn't be jealous of the US in any way. Based on their population they have done a great deal and continue to have a great impact on the world. Look at other countries of similar pop. size and compare them with the UK. They have a superior "head of state' system that gets their top personality out of politics and can be a unifying person. God Save The Queen (by the way, I'm a yank)
Nope, not in the slightest. Realistically, what's to be jealous of? Rampant gun crime, school shootings, race riots, hurricanes, tornadoes, mudslides, flooding, remarkable insularity, infantile political discourse, going bankrupt because you need a relatively simple operation...
I've spent a lot of time in America and, whilst there are plenty of good aspects to American life, I'm pretty appreciative that I was born in Britain and not the United States, and i wouldn't change that fact even if I could.
Nope - we've got a free at point of need healthcare system the NHS.

This is coming from an American. The US is the larger country. The UK is the better country. The UK has a better health system, better schools, less racism, and less poverty.

Never have been that much.. I am PROUD to be BRITISH in an understated , never treat the flag as some HOLY RELIC way....Is good to visit the US, but it tires you out, all that constant rather plastic, forced politeness & jollity and that ODD capacity to celebrate even the OPENING of a door???? As a WELSHMAN who like the majority in Wales has English as a FIRST language, I am often complimented in The US, how well I SPEAK ENGLISH and many have difficulty working out where and WHAT WALES is....Your country has many good points,I am sure, but I really dislike the politics, the poor infrastructure, for such a rich place, the poverty, the racism and guns....SIZE??? We have PASSPORTS and live in EUROPE....We travel a lot, including many city breaks in other European places per year....
The US is on a downward spiral..If you travelled, would know that....Have family in the US, now in FEAR of loosing their health care due to the head of family loosing his job at 61... ..Thank GOD for our NATIONAL HEALTH SERVICE...Suppose we are rather middle class, and could afford to "go private" ,but why waste money when is already paid for from general taxation???!! Used to envy them in America, back in the day, and now am making plans to HELP them financially..feeling only PITY for them....Also, the way you post your question points to an arrogance that perhaps, back in the day, we British also had as TOP DOG..We have moved on and our country is very much a POST-colonial, post war, European SUCCESS story these days....Look closely at the US ; a nation ill at ease with itself for sure???? My now deceased great uncle, who migrated to the US aged 19, sponsored by an uncle of his, often said, when over here, he had had the BEST YEARS of the US & things had gone from BAD to WORSE over the years.....He pointed to CANADA as what he wished the US COULD have been..On that I agree, as CANADA is far superior, in every way, other than the number of right wing hot heads who inhabit it......In the US all they do is go on about RACE, shoot until proven BLACK, stress about OMAMACARE and insult the poor man constantly.....He deserves better!!! If there were a way to sponsor my relations I would....They have looked at places they could go such as New Zealand (another civilized place), but are financially NOT secure enough to meet requirements....They are trapped & they have no right to British citizenship.... as such only handed down ONE generation....
