Can U.S dollars be used in Netherlands?

I have a friend who lives in Netherlands and I wanted to send her a gift through the mail.

I guess she said it costs money for them to accept mail from out of state. So if I send them United States dollars with the gift.. Could she use that cash I send and convert it to euros through their bank? Then pay the fee with it? Or no?

the exchange rate will be better in netherlands. your friend will have no problem in taking the $ and convert it to euro in a bank or a money exchanger bureau.

Why should it costs money to accept a parcel you send. As long as you have payed the stamps it coasts nothing to accept a parcel from the us. You can't pay with dollars in the Netherlands, we use euro. But you can change dollars in the Netherlands. If I want to change money I mostly use one of the exchange offices you can find at the bigger train stations. But it shouldn't be necesarry to send money if you already payed to send the parcel. http://www.gwktravelex.nl/NL/vestigingen...

Many banks doesn't accept cash money anymore and surly not foreign currencies. Change can be done at Travelex or other exchangebureaus.

And about the Dollars. The majority doesn't know how real Dollars look like.

No, of course not. US dollars can only be used in the US and its territories.

The Netherlands uses Euros.

Your fried would be able to take the $$$$ to a bank in the Netherlands and get them converted to
