Car hire spain, any advice would be appreciated?

Well, you better do it now because there may be none left to hire. I am aware of the situation as I live in Malaga. It used to be a lot cheaper to hire in Spain, but my relatives now hire from someone like Holiday Car Hire in the UK.

A taxi will be expensive. Yes there are trains and buses, but they will be packed and you might not get on. You may have to wait for the next one at this time of the year. You don't tell us where you are staying so advising about anything other than car hire is not possible.

As I said, if you are hiring a car, do it now!

I use Europcar their cars are pretty good they will ask if you want extra insurance for glass and rubber and under car damage for 20 odd euros I always take it as tyres are 80 euros each so if you blow one they pay and you return the car empty of petrol but pick it up full and they charge you for the full tank at their prices, so if you return it half full they have made a bob or 2 cause they'll top it up and charge the next renter for a full tank. Also car rental is dearer at the airport than in town

Exactly WHY do you think you need to rent a car at all? Public transportation, (trains and busses) are excellent in Spain. And very reasonable. If all you need is to get to your destination without having to mess around with lots of luggage, or if your destination is far from any stops, take a cab. If you are able to easily carry your luggage, then take a train, or bus. Much less expensive (cab is less if you have a couple of people, and aren't traveling too far), and less hassle. Driving in a foreign country is rather daunting, and the roads in the cities are horrible (traffic, negotiating, etc.)

We hired from Uk AVIS to pick up at Malaga Airport no problems

Hi all, I'm off on my holls to spain in 3 weeks, flying into Malaga. Can anyone point me to a descent car hire com pany preferably at the airport. Was going to hire from goldcar but decided to read some reviews last night and pretty much all the companies even the multi nationals just get slated saying they con you into paying extra for fuel and telling you your not insured and so on... makes me wonder if it's actually worth it.... would i be better off just getting a taxi?
