Cheapest option to London from Sheffield?

I have a very important job interview in London on Monday at 9AM. The job is actually in Canada which would be a dream for me so I have to find out how to get there but I only have limited funds.

I crossed out air travel instantly after seeing £200+ return for a 30 minute flight, it's ridiculous. The only option I think is train which is between £50-£100 which I'm not even sure is return. The last option I believe is by coach from Sheffield to London Victoria which is £15-£20.

So I need some more opinions on this and maybe someone who knows more about this can help me out. Thank you :)

Coach is the cheapest but the slowest and the least reliable due to potential traffic issues. To get to London for 9am you would need to go down the night before and stay over. Even the train might be pushing things, not sure what time your first train would be but I would look at www.thetrainline.com for options - well I have looked on the website and I think you need to come down on the Sunday and stay over. The first train is at 5-30 am which gets you in at 8-07am but you then have to get to your destination which in the rush hour could take you well over an hour. Cost for train down works out better as two single journeys £96 out and £26 return - a return ticket would be £186

Coach would be the cheapest option, but will take a lot longer, and may not fit your time options.

Look at train times - you can generally get a cheaper option if you book a timed train. You are looking however for a very peak option; you may find it cheaper (and possible less stressful) to get a train the day before and stay the night (hostels / EasyHotel if on a budget), and avoid worrying about getting there on time.

It is likely that the cheaper advance purchase rail fares for Monday have been sold out by now but check on www.eastmidlandstrains.co.uk or at the ticket office at Sheffield Station

I would be wary of travelling to London by coach for a job interview because of the time it takes and possible

traffic delays. The train takes only just over 2 hours

Thats it, you have covered all the bases, except for car, taxi, bike, hot air balloon, and a narrow boat which would take about 3 weeks but will get you to regents park.

COACH is fine....Should be able to get one really early..We often take from Manchester and arrive at 10am and know are earlier ones..Same from there sure....GOOD LUCK..LOVE CANADA....
