Hello! My boyfriend is turning 18 at the end of September and I thought that a nice present would be a city break to Rome or Athens or another major European city for the 2 of us for 3 nights (a weekend stay from Friday to Monday would be ideal). Sadly, as I am a teen as well, I do not have the funds to book anything fancy, and so although I'm working all summer, at my best calculations I can spend ￡300 on flights and accommodation, and would much prefer to spend less.

Now I know there are many experienced travellers out there that could recommend me certain tricks if you might. Which cities have the cheapest hotels or are really underrated although beautiful. As we are both quite young we don't mind staying in hostels, though it would be nice to have a private bathroom and coach journeys do not scare us. The two cities we have visited so far are Paris and Amsterdam and we are from London so those 3 are off the list. I, myself, am Polish so although visiting Warsaw or Krakow is an option I would feel obliged to visit my family, rather than explore the cities, which is what I am hoping to do.

I think that your budget will no cover transport, meals and loading. I will try to give you some ideas for traveling on cheap.

The first thing is you have to choose a lower season, like you say September.

Rome is a good city, because you can walk to many beautiful places that are free, you can check low cost airlines like, EasyJet, Ranair or Vueling airlines, perhaps, you will be interested in a accommodations at a convent or monastery in Italy, best lodging bargains available. There are a number of them in Rome, in some places a monastery stay may be free.

I do not think the amount you have in mind will cover two people for that time. Frankly, I can't see how it is possible with meals and hotels, however cheap they may be. Yet, there are offers that you will not find in here.
