The local Police should be informed and it is strange that if as you say you live in a small suburb, they are not aware of its existence so far. Perhaps, they do know of it, but anyhow I feel it would have been your duty to let them know.
If you chose to let them know, I would suggest that you make a note of the time and day and the name of the officer you reported it. Be specific of your information and also let them know of your efforts with the Danish Police. That most likely shake them up.
Just report it to your local police, surely that's not too difficult. I'm not sure how a native Dane would be able to help in this situation.
