Do I have this nationality? Help!?

Hey,

Im born in Belgium, but parents are Albanian. I heard that scottish people are Albanians that made up a country in the past.. I heard that from a history-specialist. Does that mean i'm a Piece British?

Arbierian means you were from from the Principality of Arbanon or Albanon formed in the Middle Ages and nowadays the lands are part of Albania You can read the history here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Principalit...

In the Middle Ages it was a lot more simplistic and rulers may well have travelled to unclaimed lands and claimed them as their own. Nowadays in principle there are no unclaimed lands to speak of so it doesn't happen

"Many albanians Speek very welk english, and has an large population in the UK."

There are at most 100,000 Albanians living in the United Kingdom and most of these are from Kosovo and Macedonia (FYROM) rather than Albania itself. In any case 100,000 is not a large population. In terms of a UK population of 64,100,000 people then it means that Albanians make up 0.1% of the population.

"they said we have british-scottish blood. Because Scotland has the same dances, and they're actually albanians. "

Let's seperate these two things. Just because Scots have similar dances to another country does not mean they are the same people. If your mother said that you have British-Scottish blood then it may mean that a distant relative was born in Scotland somewhere along the line but it does not mean you can claim nationality no. You will need to have your mother holding a British passport in her own right to be able to claim nationality.

So you can't claim you are British.Sorry

Thnx for the response. But , If I was an Arberian (albanians said in the past) in the past, and go to an unnamed place , and claim it. Then I would be from there. Many albanians Speek very welk english, and has an large population in the UK. So, i asked my parents, they said we have british-scottish blood. Because Scotland has the same dances, and they're actually albanians. So. Does some one have a easier answer?

Thnx

I don't think so. Albania was created 1912, so it's quite new country, considering that somes existed thousands years ago. Albania was part of Serbian empire, that means Slavic nation, and when Serbia got under control of the Turkish Otoman Empire, the people who lived there took Turkish religion - Islam. Now, Serbia and Montenegro started a war in 1912, with the goal to banish all the Turks from Balkan, and well, Europe. When Serbia gained back it's teritory, including Albania that got the entrance to the sea, world's big forces got afraid that with Serbia growing, Russia would have bigger support in Europe. So, to stop that, they created a new country - Albania, on November 28, 1912.

So, as you see, there's nothing to do with Britain :)

No on all counts. Belgium does not grant citizenship status based on geographical location of birth. Scotts are partly gaelic in the highlands and mostly nordic in the lowlands. They have absolutely no connection to Albanian peoples.

What on earth are you asking? Whether you have the belgian nationality? The albanian one? The british one?

Every country has its own laws around nationality. There is no such thing as "a piece british".Nationality is a legal status. You either have it or you don't.

If you want to know about belgian nationality, ask it in or in continental europe-->belgium>

Hi , as a British person I doubt a significant genetic link between Albanians and Scottish people. Most likely the Scottish have a Scandinavian heritage. But nobody in the British Isle soley descends from here so you never know.....

You could be able to apply for the nationality, but it wont be related to the past because then all Albanians would give birth there and get their kids naturalized.. Goodluck :)

just cos the turkish people took over greece for 400 years and raped everyone, does that mean every greek person today is part-turkish??

I AIN'T A TURK!!

what ID is in your wallet?
