Do Scots feel a hate towards the UK, not England, Wales or Northern Ireland, but towards the UK as a whole, do they feel it tries to hide their identity as being Scottish, or are many Scottish people proud to be British and to wave the Union flag.
In general there is no real hatred between the scots and English it is just a few that like to stir things up and make out there is a lot of hatred between the two I have been to Scotland many times and have never yet come across an un friendly scot.
Scotland is part of the UK
a lot of scots have this fierce and arrogant attitude about their heritage and difference from the uk.Until the death of Elizabeth 1 england was often at war with scotland. After north sea oil was discovered in the late 1960s the scots have wanted to be independent from the uk taking the oil wealth with them. As you say oil prices are low and north sea oil is not very profitable at the moment so they voted t stay part of the union and continue to receive large subsidies from the english taxpayer. I dont know that i would say the scots hate the english but they certainly feel superior in some way but they are also opportunists.
No - they're proud to be Scots, just as the English are proud to be English, the Welsh to be Welsh and the Irish to be Irish - but we're all part of the UK.
There's a certain amount of rivalry, but we all get along pretty well!
The Scots are proud of Scotland, and good on them too. Being proud of Scotland doesn't mean they hate the UK.
