Do the Scottish view England as a bully, or do they view them as two brothers who have each others backs.
The English generally like the Scottish. Some Scottish nationalists do not like the English. The English are often left feeling hurt when some Scottish football fans celebrate England's relegation from the tournament. Poor things don't understand the power of history to punish the living.
Some Scottish people have an intense, irrational hatred of anything English. I've experienced it a couple of times, but thankfully those kind of people are a minority. There is rivalry - same as between any two neighbouring countries - but it's generally good-natured.
Scotland and England are as different as France and Spain. The union of the two
countries in 1707 was good for the UK at the time of building the British empire with Scottish brains and bravery but now that England wants to sell her culture to third world despots the Scots are finding it time to go their own direction before we all disappear into the quagmire of nothingness.
Some do, but then some Northern English have the same attitude to Southern English. Probably the same in many countries, whether related to race or religion. It seems to be more of a psychological reaction to thinking 'they are not better than us'.
There are some Scottish people who take it seriously. However, I know a lot of Scottish people and the rivalry is all a bit of fun.
Think it depends on who you listen to, in the main the majority of the time for the majority of people it is natural country rivalry on both sides, however if you are listening to extremist political people either side of the border you will get extremest views
NO it's not a bit of fun, but not so serious either - there's a big history there which the Scots will never forget & neither will we.
Some but a lot is overblown.....Do NOT forget the UK also has us Welsh & Northern Irish....
