England - "This Green and Pleasant Land"

I only know a very little of Germany and spent three of my nine army years there in 1962 to 1965 thus my knowledge of the country will not be up-to-date. It's much bigger than UK.
England as a country is very old - ancient in fact. London where I live is 2,000 years old, built by the Romans.
Different architecture. You can tell by getting one of those simulator games, like 'street cleaner simulator' or 'farming simulator'. The British Army had a 'typical German village' set up on Salisbury plain somewhere to practice for WW3.
Obviously the signs, adverts, etc would be in German. In general Germany offers many sorts of countryside scenery, as does the UK. The mountains of the Alps as seen in Bavaria etc are higher than any mountains in the UK, but there are also flat plains in the north of Germany.
In some places they look similar, in others very clearly different. I wouldn't say the streets are wider, cleaners yes, in towns/cities in Germany where I have been it was normal early in the morning each and every morning for street washing vehicles to wash the streets, which doesn't generally happen in the UK
The streets are certainly cleaner. There is a lot of beautiful countryside in Germany especially in the mountains.
No. Parts of Germany are actually awe inspiring. England is just "a green & pleasant land".
Your friend is right.
NOT a bit...
