Is gran canaria same rules as Spain?
If you hold a UK passport it's valid up to the day of expiry. That includes the whole of the EU, including the Canary and Balearic islands.
If your passport is valid. You can travel.
Gran Canaria is in Spain BUT it is not completely in the EU. For example, there is no VAT but there is a similar tax called IGIC. The Canaries have various other special taxes and rules to make living in the middle of nowhere a bit less expensive.
