Employee provided room and board? (England)?

Posted at: 2015-06-30
I am 18 and want to spend the 2015 summer in England and Europe. I plan on working while I'm there so I don't become broke. Obviously renting an apartment by my self would become quite expensive especially working minimum wage. I want to know if theres any resorts or hotels or other misc. jobs that offer room and board for employees. (Disney World Paris, Hilton Hotels)

Assuming you don't hold an EU passport; this simply won't be an option.

If for example you're American, there's no way for you to get a work visa at 18 (they can only be sponsor for highly qualified positions) and are no holiday working visas or anything similar. No one will give you a job without a valid visa, and you won't get into the country if you don't have enough funds for your holiday.

If you do have an EU passport and therefore no issues working; many hotel chains offer live in accommodation, although most will be looking for longer term work than just the summer.

You can plan all you want but if you don't have a work visa you won't be allowed to work. There are no visas for unskilled work. If, on the other hand, you are a citizen of an EU member country, you might possibly be able to find work - but bear in mind that there is massive unemployment throughout the UK. By "England" I am assuming you mean the UK.

Yes there are literally thousands of hotels in tourist areas which means coastal or rural parts of the U.K. who take on extra workers in the summer months where employment includes room and board. My best advice would be to start with a major seaside resort like Bournemouth www.bournemouth.co.uk and email all the major hotels there re employment prospects for summer 2015. Look at a map of Britain; decide which areas you like. Google a town followed by the words tourist information and do the same thing

You won't get a work visa for the type of job you are looking at. Work visas are only issued to highly skilled professionals such as doctors and engineers. The minimum salary a work visa holder can earn in in excess of £20,000 and you would need a degree as a minimum qualification to be eligible.

Minimum wage jobs go to resident workers.

You cannot work in the UK without a work visa. Unless you are from a participating commonwealth country and can get one of those 'Youth Visa' things, the only way to work in the UK is if you are from an EU country.

Your asking about casual summer work that will not happen for a Non EU citizen

Unless you are an EU citizen you can't work in the UK.

well from the first line of your question it sounds like your from outside europe, so you would need a work visa to come here and work
