Entering Spain with expired student visa?

As an American, when your Student Visa expires, you can leave the Schengen Zone then re-enter, visa free, as a tourist for up to 90 days. This is perfectly legal.

But, how long do you plan to study in Spain? If it is more than 90 days from re-entering, then you have real problems. Your student residence card is not a visa, it is held in conjunction with a valid Student Visa and, if you return to Spain and stay longer than 90 days, you will be an illegal alien and will have to suffer the consequences.

Zafir is right. You might want to look into your Visa expiring. As for the travel, you will have problems when you enter Schengen Areas. So you can legally travel within 90 days without Visa but of course with you American Passport. Good luck!

you cannot entering Spain or even another Schengencountry and any behaviour against the rules of your visa is an offence or a crime

and it would help you to read the copy of your visa application form

and in the case of a student residence card that card will you never receive while in some working days your visa ends and you are not entitled to live anymore in the studenthousing

You will need a valid visa to travel

You can enter as a yourist. millions of people do.

I'm an American student studying in Spain, and I was hoping to go to London for Christmas. My visa expires in the middle of my trip, and my student residence card is still being processed. Will I have problems trying to re-enter the country?
