First time in London ! Londoners please help!?

Hello. I have a problem with the transportation across London using the underground.

I'll be travelling from Doncaster to King's Cross and from King's Cross I need to go to Paddington's station. I watched some underground maps for London's Tube where everything is in colours but I don't know which colour should I take to reach Paddington's station. Do I have to switch trains ? How many times ? I need to reach Slough and I'll have to be in a hurry because the tickets I bought are usable for certain time and trains only so if I miss any of the trains I'll have to pay for another ticket.

Please if you can help me I'll be vary grateful. I want to save my money rather than paying for another ticket.

Have a look at the map and you see that both the pink and yellow lines directly connect Kings Cross to Paddington. So that's the Hammersmith & City line or the Circle line, and you only need one train.

At Kings Cross, these go from the same platform. The Metropolitan line (purple) also goes from the same platform so that's what you need to look for once you have followed the signs to the Underground and gone down the stairs to it - Metropolitan, Circle and Hammersmith & City lines Westbound. Follow the signs to that and take any train going to Hammersmith, or you'll be on a Metropolitan line train. There are dot-matrix indicators above the platform showing where the next few trains are going and how long you have to wait. These three lines all use the newest trains that not only show the destination and the line on the front but on the side of each carriage as well, so you really can't go wrong if you just use your eyes :)

Tube stations are all well-signposted so it's easy to find your way to the right platform, or else tourists would be getting lost in the system all the time!

Hopefully your tickets include the tube fare so you can just go straight to the platform.

Assuming you're going to be coming back the same way later, Paddington is probably the worst tube station for confusing people as it's in two totally separate parts. When you go from Kings Cross to Paddington, the train will arrive at platform 15 in the main Paddington station. So now you know where to go back from - do NOT go to the main tube station at Paddington. What you want is any train from platform 16 and that'll get you back to Kings Cross.

Follow the Underground route instructions others have given (Circle or Hammersmith & City Lines direct to Paddington from Kings Cross). Don't worry about missing your train to Slough. They run every few minutes and although you have an Advance Purchase rail ticket only the Doncaster to London Kings Cross section of the journey is restricted to a specifically timed train. It is difficult to go wrong on the Underground. The signing is excellent and there are plenty of uniformed staff to assist you

The colours represent the different Tube lines. If you bother to look properly you will see two lines that connect King's Cross and Paddington. How much time do you have between arrival in London and departure from Paddington?

I suggest you check the TfL website for journey times and any planned engineering works.

From King's Cross St. Pancras Underground station, catch a westbound train on the Circle Line (yellow) or Hammersmith & City Line (pink), at the same platform for both lines.

You do not need to change trains to go from there to Paddington.

YOu seem to be dumb. That is common in Doncaster. Take your carer
