Good and bad secondary schools in Liverpool?

Posted at: 2015-06-30
We've recently moved to Liverpool and my son is 11, starting secondary school in September... which ones are good and which are ones to avoid like the plague?

Best:

Blue Coat

St Edward's

King David

Liverpool College

Belvedere

Good/decent

St Margaret's

SFX

Bellerive

St Hilda's

St Julie's

Archbishop Blanch

On the rough side:

Calderstones

SFX* (good enough school but somewhat rough)

Bad:

Broadgreeen

Childwall

De La Salle

Archbishop Beck

West Derby

Avoid like the plague:

Shorefields/University Academy Liverpool

Christian Fellowship School (not rough but absolutely terrible on virtually every other front - in danger of getting closed down even)

Ignore the above reports - Ofsted can be deceiving. Shorefields was once rated good by Ofsted. SHOREFIELDS.

Pick a school in your area, go to their website, and look for the OFSTED report.

This will tell you if the school is any good.

I would also add in the best category Merchnt Taylor's Boys School in Crosby.

Look on OFSTED site for reports on any that may be of interest....

Ofsted publishes reports on all of them. Have a look
