It should be OK, I would not feed it or allow more than a sip of water six hours prior to leaving.
People clearly are not understanding there are wild hedgehogs and then captive born and bred hedgehogs. Pet hedgehogs are generally African Pigmy hedgehogs, but some people do keep the European kinds as pets as well.
If there's an option of waiting to get the pet after your travel I would go with that. While hedgehogs can be transported and 2 hours isn't a terribly long drive you're talking about a new pet that will already be stressed and uncomfortable so why make it worse by including a family trip in the first month of ownership. Yes, the hedgehog would likely survive the trip, but if you are able to pick it up after that's what I would recommend doing.
Hedgehogs make good pets for people who are up at night, aren't looking for as much of a commitment as a dog or cat, but aren't interested in a hamster or fish. Their care is pretty easy in captivity, but does require some research before hand. Some hedgehogs are incredibly social and playful while others are not, this is the case with all animals, not just hedgehogs. If you handle your hedgehog regularly from a young age your hedgehog should be very social and enjoy handling. No, you can't play fetch with the animal, but you can carry it around in a little pouch during the day and let it run around at night.

I hope you and your mum are aware that hedgehogs do not make ideal pets. Wild hedgehogs should be left in the wild and the ones that are imported as pets cannot be let into the wild when you get fed up of them (they're messy, nocturnally noisy and if exercised outside are prone to fleas).
Hedgehogs are wild animals in serious decline. By all means create a safe living place for them in your garden by leaving it partly wild and not using any pesticides, and creating a safe warm place for them to hibernate in the winter like a large pile of straw, and not using chemical weed killers or similar in the garden. But they will not make good pets and indeed will soon die if kept inside the house or transported by car
Hedgehogs are NOT pets. They sleep all day and need to go out at night.
You cannot pet them as they roll in a ball.
They are always full of fleas.
Sorry should have added its a Pygmy hedgehogs, ones that ARE pets !!
Are you on drugs? Because you really should be.
