Help about traveling to Greece? Few questions! ?????

Anyone know about traveling to Greece recently? I know Greece is in an economic crisis. My cousin and I would love to travel there this summer, and spend a week or two. However we were told yesterday pick pocketing and robbing, violent crime was very very high in Greece at the moment. We know that where ever you travel it can be very dangerous!! We were wondering what may be the safer and more dangerous parts of Greece? What do you reccomend? I have googled trying to find hotels that are more in the hills of Greece... Like overseeing the buildings all white with blue.. Thanks! ????????

I am an ageing Englishman and returned in November from a 10 week holiday there during which I was on foot and alone in Athens , Pireaus , in Naxos , in 3 of the little Cyclades islands , and in Aegina and Poros in the Saronic Gulf .

I was travelling alone , and was reasonably easy to identify as a foreigner there .

I had no problems , nor did I even see anyone else having problems with crime or attempted crime .

Providing you dont have wealth blatantly on display , dont behave like a complete dork , and avoid certain areas in the big cities ( your hotel will be happy to explain where these are ) you too should have no problem , Greece is a very safe place .

I'm guessing you are Americans ? Well out here is Civilisation , it's at home that your people go about hung with military grade homicidal weaponry .

Petty crime is not higher that in any city all over the world, and most likely those who informed you of the contrary most likely had personal interests to point you elsewhere.

Anyway, Athens can be a bit problematicand that only if you go to certain areas of the city. Everywhere else the problem is non-existent.

That does not that you should leave your personal belongings unattended. You can always leave valuables at the hotel's safe service to be on the safe side.

Possibly you mean Santorini and there are many hotels that can just be what you have in mind. Decide where in Greece you waqnt to finally go and ask here again.

Far more dangerous to walk the streets of New York than anywhere in Greece - believe me. The Greeks are highly civilized and law abiding folk. This next will get you the crime stats/info for Greece now.

B.S. Go and enjoy yourselves. I go all the time and even have a house there in a village. Don't listen to B.S.

Greece is not dangerous.
