How Does The layout of England work?

So like I've looked at a map of England and I just don't understand how it works, like is there provinces with city's in them? Cause it looks like there's city's within city's to me! I'm just so confused.

Anywhere new is confusing I found Germany Confusing after WW2 took a while to Understand Bavaria Prussia etc

for the postal code Greater London was where i lived was Fulham London Middlesex SW6 they dropped the Middlesex as more of it became Greater London and the SW6 had More digits

here is an address for Fulham (North End Rd Fulham, London SW6 1NL, UK)

Middlesex is an area in England, mostly covered by Greater London. It is one of the 39 historical counties of England. It includes the City of London,

England has 39 Counties ( States for a better word ) with a Capital city this Link explains England 39 Scotland 33 counties and Wales 12 counties

England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have slightly different systems.

in England, it is the most complicated.

There are counties, which are divided into Districts. Eg Oxfordshire (county town Oxford). These are mostly rural areas which contain some towns and maybe a city.

There are Metropolitan Counties which are divided into Metropolitan Boroughs eg Greater Manchester. These are mainly urban areas.

There are Unitary Authorities eg Southampton. These are quite small and will be centred around a town or city.

There is also Greater London, which is divided into London Boroughs. It's mostly urban.

There are also small parish and town councils that look after local affairs under the umbrella of District councils

There are County Constituencies (mostly rural) and Borough Constituencies (mostly urban) that send representatives to Westminster Parliament in London.

There are also Historic Counties that exist but are no longer used for administration (eg Cumberland). They often have different boundaries to modern administrative counties with the same name (eg Lancashire).

Whole UK of which England one part, a mish mash.....Have in England Counties, cities, Metropolitan Boroughs, which form big conurbations like Greater Manchester, West Midlands, West Yorkshire etc...plus London Boroughs (plus City of Westminster & City Of London (Financial district)..) which are Greater London.....

There are counties. London was in Middlesex, but, the city is now larger than the country. York is subdivided into 3, as it is the largest county. Wales, and Scotland are separate countries. Sort of.

If your confused it does say much about you

YOu are evidently very very stupid!!
