Please, I know I can't just move there, I'm too young, whatever. That's why I'm asking. I need someone who isn't judgmental that can give me some discreet contacts or information on any or all documents I need and how to get started.
Have you met this Portuguese man in person? Are you sure he's not a trafficker or a pimp? No, I'm NOT saying that Portuguese men are traffickers or pimps - the ones I've met have all seemed nice, hard-working, people, but you cannot be too careful. Especially if he's saying things like how well he can look after you, how much you'll like living there, etc. And if he is paying for you to come over, that would be leverage on you also.
If you have an abusive family, isn't the US big enough for you to live away from them and be safe? Go to the police and get help there.
You have to be living in Portugal legally for at least 6 years. If you get married, you can get it faster (not saying you should do it just to get the citizenship). However, don't forget, learn the language! We enjoy speaking in English to tourists, but if you want to live here, learning the language is mandatory.
It's likely that there are provisions for bringing in a fiancé or wife. Other than that, it's unlikely that you can get a visa that will allow you to work legally. If you Google Portugal immigration, you'll get the details. Here's one page with some information. There's a link at the bottom to a forum with expats in Portugal, who may be able to give you more information: http://www.expatforum.com/articles/visas...
Get a visa. That's the first step. Without it you won't even get into the country.
Google "Portugal visa requirements" to find out more.
