I don't think you are telling us the entire truth,
If you are being abused at home,( you need evidence of course)
You know that you have many resources available to help !
If you don't know what to do, post the question again and i will try to help you.
I am a U.S. citizen
If you are not an EU national, you cannot simply up and move to Portugal.
If you are an EU national, you will need a passport. However, without qualifications you're not likely to do very well in Portugal.
My advice is to move out of your parents' house when you turn 18, and make your own life in your own country, get qualified in something that will at least give you an income and some independence, and THEN consider moving to another country.
It is impossible to provide an exact answer without knowing your citizenship, and where you will be travelling from.
Regarding the visa:
. if you are a citizen of an EU country, you can move to Portugal anytime to live and work without a visa.
. if you are from any non-EU country eg USA, you CANNOT move to Portugal. To get a Work Visa you must get a job before moving there, and the employer must prove that there are no Portuguese or EU citizens available to fill the position, so really you have no chance of getting a job. You could apply for a Student Visa, you must have applied to a school or university first, but that could be quite expensive.
If you are not from the EU, and depending on your citizenship, you could travel to Portugal as a tourist for up to 90 days and see how your relationship works out. But if you are from a country that requires a Schengen Visa you are unlikely to be granted 90 days.
So, you really do need to provide a bit more information.
EDIT: Have a look at a website like http://www.webjet.com for flight prices as it deoends on where in the US you need to travel from. And you need a return ticket to travel to Portugal as a tourist. As a US citizen you can only stay in Portugal for 90 days.
