How do people dress in Spain?

I agree with the above posts, just dress for the weather. There wasn't anything different from what you'd see at home. Have a wonderful time.

You're a foreign student doing a short tour of Spain and, to the Spanish, that's all you'll ever be. Don't try to fit in because you won't. Just wear your usual clothes. If you're going soon then most of Spain will still be cold as it's winter. The south will be warmish, but not hot enough for summer clothes. Spanish girls do wear dresss and skirts, but usually in summer. If you are visiting churches be modest and respectful by covering shoulders and knees, so no shorts.

"the girls always wear dresses": this must be some sort of urban legend because it's NOT true. Girls in summer wear short shorts, for example.

People in Spain dress like in every other country in Europe. Maybe not so smart like in Italy but much smarter than in the UK or Germany for sure.

" I don't want to offend anyone by being too casual or too dressy": don't worry, because it's not going to be the case. Maybe it will be you who will be shocked if you are in a big Spanish city and see gay couples going hand to hand or kissing in public, as gay marriage is legal in Spain and gay couples can even adopt children.

Nowadays Spain is everything but conservative. For example, topless is absolutely usual on all the beaches and is done by women of all ages.

The same as you wear in UK, if it is warm then short and t-shirt if it is cold jeans and tops and jackets, some high schools do have uniforms the same as the UK but the girls wear uniform dress in the summer time, Good Luck

Have a look at Google Earth and see for yourself on Streetview.

It is winter in Spain. You know, rain, snow , ice. Unless you are going to the South Coast.

It really depends where you are going to be. In most cases, in schools, the kids all wear uniforms. They look like Catholic school uniforms in the US. Dresses, Yes. Girls wear dresses most of the time, to things like school. Much more than in the US.

Don't they give you advice about such things with these trips? They always did when I was a student, and again, when I was going along as a teaching assistant.

Take a look at the weather, if cold -- boots, scarfs and coats --- y hot -- dresses, sandals, shorts....nothing out of the ordinary!

I am going on a trip to Spain soon and will be going to a school there for 10 days. When it comes to packing I have no idea what to bring. A friend went to Spain a few years back and said that the girls always wear dresses. I was wondering if this is true and what high-school students in Spain wear. I don't want to offend anyone by being too casual or too dressy. So what would a typical high-school student in Spain wear? Thanks!
