At primary and secondary school they begin their holidays at the beginning of July and come back by mid-September. Universities begin at the beginning of July and come back at the beginning of October.
People who work have 4 weeks for holidays. 20 years ago it was usual to spend all 4 weeks in the same month, usually August. Nowadays most people take 2 or 3 weeks in summer and the rest during other periods of the year.
