There is a study that was carried out at Oxford university about ten years ago that showed that the popular idea that Englishmen are all Anglo Saxons whilst the Welsh and Scots are Celtic is untrue. Scotland and Wales have a slightly higher percentage of Celtic ancestry, but roughly two thirds of Englishmen are of Celtic descent, far outweighing the number of people descended from either Anglo Saxons or Vikings. So yes, it appears that English people are mostly Celtic.
As for you personally, it's hard to say. I expect you're a mix of different things like most of us, but it's probable that you have some Celtic ancestry yes.
Yes, you probably have some Celtic DNA. And Danish, and Anglo-Saxon, and maybe even Roman. Probably only partly Celtic, but, if you are dark haired, and eyed, and especially if you have darker skin, then more Celts. They originally came from where Hungary is today, more or less. So, they are actually pretty dark. The fairness in Britain, and Ireland comes from the Vikings.
English is Anglo Saxon with a dash of Frisian. All of them are Germanic.
lowland Scots are actually descended from Anglo-Saxon settlers who drove out the Celts. This is why the lowland Scots dialect is derived from middle English - very little Celt there.
Irish - well it depends, if your ancestors come from Ulster then thay are Anglo Saxon by descent from the lowland Scottish settles.
Most Britons did flee - sorry but that is a simple fact. Viking ancestry can happen in the North of England but very few vikings settled and most wee ejected whne the English recovered the territory.
You are mostly Anglo Saxon.
Only a DNA test can tell you what proportion of DNA is of Celtic origin. It cannot tell you how many of your ancestors were Celts, for two reasons. One is that 'Celtic' is not clearly defined, the other is that people obtain varying proportions of DNA from different ancestors (e.g. while on average each person gets 25% of their DNA from each grandparent, in any one person the exact proportion will vary). A result showing someone has 27% Celtic DNA could mean they had a Celtic grandparent, or could mean that they had two Celtic great-grandparents in different descent lines.
You are probably a mixture of all the races that settled here
up to the 18th century.
Yes and no. Probably we're all so mixed up by now that it's hard to say.
All a mix with some Celtic blood....
