I keep worrying about a 2nd Scottish Referendum?

I'm British and I am immensely proud of the UK, our history and what we have done together. When Scotland voted No it was undoubtedly one of the greatest days of my life (I'm 18). The UK only exists because of Scotland and for Scotland to look back at those 307 years and believe that they are better with the UK was one of the proudest days of my life to be a Briton.

However, seeing these polls with the SNP miles ahead of Labour, I'm panicking that the SNP are just going to take all the seats in 2016 and then will go for a second referendum. Besides, who would stop them? The SNP have so many seats they can do pretty much whatever they like. I don't believe Sturgeon when she said it's a once in the lifetime event. I do know that for the past 5 years polls have been in favour of a No vote, but I just feel that the SNP are going to take 2016 parliament as another excuse for a second referendum.

To me Scottish Independence will feel like an amputation.

If I were Scottish I would want independence too. Hell, I hate London lording over us all even as a Northern Englander. Yes it's sad, but the government only have themselves to blame for the utter mess they've made of our country through finance, immigration and not giving a damn about anyone but themselves.

the union is a lost cause its the last of the Empire state and is in its death throws the last referendum only opened up old wounds between the four nations of the United Kingdom and the gap has grown its only a matter of time and this union will be over and the United kingdom will be no more then there will be more states like London and the south of England will be a separate state from the north of England wales will be on it own same as Scotland Ireland will be one country

The oil industry has hit rock bottom. There will be no referendum while the markets are so bad.

Panicking ?? you need to get a life. My relatives in Scotland are not even thinking about it.

Don't worry. People might vote for SNP. However, even the one's that voted for independence must be heaving a sigh of relief that it didn't happen. Their estimates for the value of oil turned out to be about 8 times too large.

You have to remember the history of the union. The Scots only petitioned for a union so as to get their nations debts paid off by England and Wales, after a disastrous state investment plan went wrong.

They have contributed very little over the centuries.

I'm an Irish Nationalist. I feel my nation would be better off united, but I don't panic about it or let it cause me anxiety (I also don't visit Belfast, that could be a factor). Don't worry about these things.

Too late - at this point I think independence is inevitable, the only question left is the timescale.

You sound involved..PUT all that energy into ACTION and fight for what you want to preserve.

Scotland will go after the next election.

At first it will be "de facto" independence; then the real thing will follow within a decade.
