I only have a certified birth certificate?

I lost my original birth certificate and got a certified copy but it says that I cant send that what do I do?

That's all you ever get. The original register is kept at the register office and all they will ever give you is a certified copy of it, meaning that it is certified by the office to be a true copy of what is in the original register book. The "original" you lost was a certified copy too!

As it is a copy that the register office prepared, and it is signed by the registrar or has the impressed GRO seal on it, it is good for any official purpose. What they mean about copies is that a photocopy is not acceptable, as someone could have altered it.

Where it says "Certified Copy of an entry of birth given at the General Register Office" it means it's an official copy of the entry in the birth registers, and it's exactly what it would have said on the certificate that you lost (since I was born in Wales, mine also says "Copi dilys o gofnod genedigaeth fe'i rhoddwyd yn y General Register Office" (why they don't also translate "Swyddfa Cofrestru Cyffredinol" I have no idea)) .

Where someone says you can't use a copy of a birth certificate, for example in a passport application, it means that they want to see that original official document, NOT A PHOTOCOPY.

It actually says you can't send a photocopy not a certified copy. A certified copy is what most people send in and keep their original.

All you get is a certified copy nothing to stop you ordering a new one

Who says you can't send it? Many people loose their orriginal birth cerificates and get a certified copy.

No one has the original certificate, that is kept by the registrar. Just get another copy from the registry office where you was registered.
