Is Amsterdam fun for teenagers?

so my friends and i are going to be going to Amsterdam in about 3 weeks. we're probably going to smoke and drink and stuff, but i'm not sure about the drinking and smoking laws over there. we're all 16-17 years old.

If you are 16 or 17 you will not drink alcohol nor smoke in Amsterdam.

The age limit for buying and owning alcohol, and as such also for drinking, and for buying tobacco products has gone up to 18 at the start of last year.

Weed has had an age limit of 18 for much longer.

And yes, they do check for age, at the tobacco sellers, at the bars and at the entrance to clubs.

But yes, Amsterdam can be fun for teenagers, as long as you have realistic expectations and plan your visit based on what is available for you.

There is shopping, museums, you are welcome into the cafes as long as you do not order alcoholic drinks, you can see the sights, rent a bike and do your own tour or join a tour by bike or walking. And there is even more but not the items you mention.

Just ask an adult to buy weed inside the coffeeshops. And smoke in a park or somwhere. If you don't border people, nothing will happen. But you're not allowed to go inside a coffeeshops because they alway ask for ID. If the police find underage people, the coffeeshop get a huge fine or has to close. So the coffeeshops are very strict with ID.

As far as I recall smoking cannabis is over 18 and drinking is 16. Be careful out there. Stuff will be stronger than you are used to. Amsterdam is fun for every one, great culture and museums and lots to explore.

Ah, no you won't. You must be 18 to buy drugs and alcohol - not sure about cigarettes - and you WILL be asked for ID. In your case the only ID they will accept is your passport. If you attempt to change the dates on your passport, you render it invalid. This would mean you are stateless in a foreign country. Oh, and your passport is technically the property of your government, so if you attempt to change any of the information on your passport, not only are you attempting to fraud, but you are also wilfully damaging state property.

You can't get into any bar or coffee shop without an ID proving you are 18

I don't recommend it. A lot of drug activity and if you are Christian like me, the enforcement of gays there gets a bit annoying, nothing against the gays.

Great country to lose your virginity
