It has restaurants, museums and other attractions
Barcelona is far from just beaches, there is so much else to do there. Depending on your interests you could easily spend a week there.
They have may Cathederals and Churches. Perhaps the most famous one is La Sagrada Familia, that has been under construction for over 150 years. There is also the Barcelona Cathederal.
If you want Shopping and Restaurants you have La Rambla, which is a multi-block long pedestrian mall.
Gaudi and Picasso are heavily represented in Barcelona. Where you have the Museu Picasso, as well as Park Guell.
The Magic Fountains of Montju?c, give an almost nightly show that thousands attend.
A bit farther out of the city you have the mountain area of Montserrat.
Barcelona also has a very good Metro System where you can get to just about anywhere in the city by metro and a short walk.
20 years ago nobody went to the beach in Barcelona, it was around an old industrial area and the sea was polluted.
In fact, Barcelona is not a beach resort, even if it has 4 km of beaches, one stretch of which is for nudists.
Your question really astounds me, since Barcelona has the most astonishing architecture in Europe, museums and other places of interest. The stadium of FC.Barcelona, nowadays the best soccer team in the world, is the largest in Europe.
No! In fact, the beaches aren't even that great.
There are clubs...jazz is big there, among other styles.
There are a bazillion museums! Take your pick! (you probably only want to do a couple). Monuments and churches and fabulous architecture UP THE YIN-YANG! you MUST see Sagrada Familia...the elevator up to the top towers is worth the price! (you have to climb some, but still). You should see other Gaudí masterpieces, ESPECIALLY Parc Güell. The Palau Musica, whether you go for a concert, or just to tour the building. Montserrat, a day trip away is worth the trip. Chocolate is a very important business, there...go to the chocolate museum. The Boqueria (market) is worth the trip. Wander up the Ramblas, there are TWO major amusement parks (and I think a water park, too). One is IN the city, the other is outside, a little...the one inside, Tibidabo, is famous, and historic. Poble Espanyol, the Citadel, Plaza de Espanya, and the Palau Nacional, and the Magic Fountain show (at dusk), all right there. Montjuic, and the Olympic Park, really? you haven't heard of ANY of this!?
You can do a lot more in Barcelona than just go to the beaches, you can visit the Football ground for a start. You can do the Rambla Ramble, a really great walk along a promenade, with street performers and take in the beautiful sights. There's also some great buildings and museums with beautiful artwork, just do some research if you're thinking of going.
Barcelona is one of if not the best cities in europe it has something for everyone museums, shopping, great nightlife theres tourist info booths all around la rambla i actually havent been to the beach in barcelona as theres to much else to do it would be a waste of a trip to barcelona if you just spent it at the beach if your looking for that sort of holiday go to the costa brava or salou.
Barcelona is a coastal city so there are beaches but everything else a city has to offer.
Massive city with shopping, museums...THE LOT...Best city in Spain....
Other than beaches what is there to do
