Here in England you can approach a police officer and ask the way even the time of day. I tried that in Paris and got a snarling response with hand moving towards side arm. Cripes - and you think England is becoming a police state? No sir, not a chance. This is a wide open democracy.

Not a chance - here in 'England' we have policing by 'consent' which means that we the people agree to there being a police force (Service). We pay for policing out of local taxation and not from government taxation.
