Is Northern Ireland a safe place to live? Of course it is. London, as far as we can tell, is probably a prime target for a terrorist attack of the kind which we've just seen in Paris.
But, the major difference between Paris and London is it's sheer size.
During the London Blitz 1940-1941 my auntie used to take her deck chair up on Hampstead Heath so that she could watch the night bombing of London.
Get the picture?
While central London is almost certainly a target area, the suburbs are not.
So, if you take the advice of people suggesting you find somewhere to live away from the busy centre, you'll be okay. Try and get a job outside the centre too if you can.
Actually some of the cheapest areas are also the safest. For example, Harrow is only a fraction of the price of Kensington and Chelsea yet has a crime rate less than half as much. Actually Harrow is the safest London Borough followed by Bexley and then Richmond Upon Thames, Sutton, Merton and Kingston Upon Thames which are all clustered together in SW London. Except for Richmond Upon Thames and parts of Merton, Kingston Upon Thames and Harrow, areas in all 6 of these boroughs are cheap by London standards. Another pattern is that pretty much all areas in these boroughs are in Zones 4, 5 and 6 i.e. on the edge of London rather than the centre.
Like any large city there are some areas that are nicer than others. I've lived in London continuously for the last 20 years and have never felt threatened at any time. There's a certain amoutn of crime but it's low (especailly campred to some comparatively sized cities elsewhere).
Rather safer than Northern Ireland used to be! Especially if you live in one of the "nicer" parts - it IS a big place. The centre is extremely expensive so you're looking at suburbs, and the north and west are nicest.
As safe as any other city, been here 20 years and never had any problems. Worth researching areas though, some are better than others and safer as with any place.
On the whole, yes; as in any city there are some areas its best to avoid. They tend to be the cheapest areas.
I'd strongly suggest you get a job before moving; no landlord will rent to you without an income, and rents in London are very high,
Yes. Over 8 million people live in Greater London. Most are untouched by violent crime.
Brixton? No. Greenford? Yes. London is huge and it depends a lot on where you live as to whether it's safe.
Yes
London has the highest crime rate in the UK, which probably makes it the most dangerous place in the country.
