The checkout girl in the supermarket said "Sail out beyond the breakwater and turn right". Now that is the best ever recipe for adventure - think about who did that before you - all the great names - Drake, Raleigh, Hawkins, Frobisher, Anson, Vernon, Cook, Rodney, Hood, Nelson, Fitzroy.
I don't agree with Greywolf at all. It is buzzing, the Uni has brought new vibrancy to the city,
The city centre is beautiful, there is a huge Theatre, skating rink, bowling, night clubs, you name it , it is there.
The sea is 5 minutes from the shops, and Cornwall 10 minutes away, Dartmoor just outside the city.
Great place to be. I was brought up there.
Rather depends what you're looking for in a location, whether you can afford to live there, what job opportunities you'll find etc.
