Poland could have been much greater. It never had much of chance because it was the place the Russians and the Germans went through on their way to have fight with each other. Every time the Poles got something good going, an invading army destroyed it or stole it.

We the Brits have not forgotten what you did for us in World War 2 (at least the older ones have not forgotten). Thank you again, and again, and again.

I couldn't really say any one culture is the greatest, they all have given something to society.

My father was born in Poland and many of my relations still live in SE Poland.

I was able to visit Poland in 2013, lovely place with sweet people, very clean too.

Poles contributed so much to the world, including Copernicus, Chopin, Sk?odowska-Curie, Stefan Batory, etc. but saying they're the "greatest civilization" is a bit of a stretch. I think there's no greatest civilization. Every civilization has something they've contributed to the world to make it a better place.

No, but in 1683 they saved the european civilisation by defending the Turks in the siege of Vienna.
