Shenfield is is Domesday Book

Back then little more than a medium sized village.

This Google search link gets you everything you want to know about Shenfield.

I am not certain that Shenfield really exists. There is no sign to Shenfield from the main A12 road nearby. The train stops there, but your phone disconnects just before, and does not re-connect till you are out on the far sides. And the people on the platform are just .... strange. If you get off there, you will never be seen again.

Shenfield is probably in a different universe from ours.

Wikipedia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shenfield

"The name originates from the Anglo-Saxon Chenefield, meaning 'good lands'."

The Area website

http://www.shenfield.org.uk/

It is more of an Area than a town but yes, is a town With a town center.

It is now on Cross rail, so good links into London etc

Thank you its just I was confused because some estate agents say its a village where others say its a town, some say its a suburb

It's a suburb of Brentwood.

You need to visit. Its a commuter belt for London. Not an area of national beauty.
