I live in Norway, not far from the Swedish border and, as many Norwegians, I am very often in Sweden during the holidays as it is a friendly country with friendly people who speak a Scandinavian language quite close to Norwegian and things are a bit cheaper in the shops in Sweden.
Immigration happens in all of the European countries, Sweden is no exception and if they have had some problems in e.g. the Swedish town of Malm?, the third largest city of Sweden, it is perhaps because this is where you find also a very strong anti-immigration and anti-Muslim reaction.
People often get the wrong impression. For example, I read today on the Belgian newspaper Le Soir (I am Norwegian but born in Belgium) that a survey shows that Belgians believe that, on the average, 29 percent of the population is Muslim. In fact, it is only 6 percent.
We often hear right wing bigots saying that pretty soon Muslims will be in majority in our countries. Here is an example how even our Norwegian National Broadcasting (NRK) interprets information:
A few weeks ago we were told that the most common first name for new borns in Oslo was Mohammed. From that, some started believing that Muslims were in majority in the capital of Norway! No! That is not true! It simply means that Norwegians, with time, give many different first name to their children. Not only traditional Norwegian names like, Per, ?yvind or Thor, but also foreign names. My three grand-children are named, Mathilde, Theodor and Jonathan! But it is a tradition with Muslims that the first born boy is called, Mohammed.
And that's how statistics and numbers are used to make you believe crazy things. If I say: A survey shows that only 5 percent of the population doesn't like my product, you will conclude that 95 percent likes it, right? Well, perhaps the survey show that 5 percent doesn't like it, 5 percent likes it and 90 percent have never heard of my product!
Watch out for misinfirmation, my friend! ;-)
Some neighborhoods, like Roseng?rd in the city of Malm?, suffer from riots caused by immigrants, but outside these areas Sweden is a safe country, about as safe as Norway and Finland.
Yes its true all of Europe s lands with Muslim and African immigrants are dangerous and Sweden is a classical example..
Yes it's true
It is one of the safest places on earth. No need to worry.
