Is Turkey dangerous to visit now?

Posted at: 2015-06-30
I heard about Turkish people recruiting for isis, I was gonna visit my boyfriend this summer but he is saying it's pretty hectic right now, then I read about articles that it's safe to visit Turkey right now. I don't know, it's it safe?

Well I am a Turkish citizien and I think the only thing more dangerous about VISITING Turkey is the risk of getting pepper sprayed by police cause there are more protests now and police here are violant.

Eastern Turkey is included to this too..

The only exception is cities which are closer to east border

because the war which is affecting middle east is affecting this cities too, some times rockets fall to this cities and cause some property damage.(Don't misunderstand it. It happened only once but if it happened it could happen again.)

but If some how your boy friend tries to convince you to LIVE with him in Turkey...

Well, that is something you should reject.

Turkey is very safe to visit provided that you stay away from demonstrations which can grow violent. Other than that, they are used to terrorism so they are also used to countering it, and the anti-terrorist police and intelligence units are on to ISIS recruiters now. Airports have very high security, and the military is the strongest in Europe after Russia, so there is no chance of the country being invaded. If you went there you would be fine.

No, Turkey is not dangerous to visit. Not any more dangerous than New York city. Probably safer. And the risks are the same: being run over by a car, getting mugged in a bad place ...

Your only additional risks are getting overcharged in a restaurant, ... or being sold a carpet you did not really want to buy :-)

IS is recruiting all over the world, especially in Western countries such as the US, but that does not make any country dangerous to visit. Turkey is perfectly safe for tourists. I suspect your "boyfriend" just doesn't want you to visit him.

I was over there 2 months ago and nobody did anything to me but be carefull it's a city full of thieves and murders.Generally stay away from bad areas and you will be fine. And i got tricked in hotel payed too much and almost wanted to get robbed. So don't go alone and go only at day time.

3 year ago I when to visit turkey in costandinoupoly todays Istanbul all there are creek things and Meany people speak Greek is good but you must have you hands on you wallet at all time ,to Meany thief's

and you are not permitted to live the aria, stay close to the church saint Sofia , very dirty and so Meany crooked people

Well you are safe from any terrorist attack in a country whose government created isis and the many other terror groups they support that are causing havoc upon the world today. Just don't got to places where their' enemies live for then you will be in danger..

I would avoid Eastern Turkey, but cities like Istanbul and Izmir for example, should be fine.

Touristed areas like Istanbul are generally safe.

I would take your boyfriend's word for how things are. "Articles" saying a country is safe to visit are often just to get tourists to come. Some countries make a lot of money from tourists.
