Is it safe to travel to Crimea?

Posted at: 2015-06-30
Due to the recent Ukraine unrest, is it safe to travel to Russian-controlled Crimea? Is there fighting in Crimea? Is it illegal to travel to Crimea?

depends on your route. If you travel from mainland of Russia - it is safe.

If you travel from Ukraine, remember destiny of Malaysian plane.

Is there fighting in Crimea? - no, there were no any fights and there are no now. As well as there are no signs of possible fights.

Is it illegal to travel to Crimea? - no.

Update : Is Russian or Ukrainian visa required? - Russian

How are roads or flying? - Go to Moscow and from there you can fly (Russian planes do not fly over Ukraine. But, as people say, all tickets till the end of summer are bought already) or take special train+ferry+bus ticket to Crimea.

As for US warnings, those are political ones, which are made to hurt citizens of Crimea, who dared to make "wrong", by US opinion, choose. They do not represent real situation.

Q: "Due to the recent Ukraine unrest, is it safe to travel to Russian-controlled Crimea?"

A: much safer than to travel to ziofacsist-controlled Okraine, incl even Kiev.

Russian visa is required. U.S. State department does warn people to avoid this area and you should listen. Should be relatively safe for now, but do you really want to support the Russian occupation of Ukrainian land? Every dollar you spend there boosts their economy and this is what we must avoid now. Crimea has already taken a huge toll on the Russian economy and this needs to intensify for Putin to stop his imperialist dreams.

you need visa to travel there, Russian visa

The Department of State also warns U.S. citizens to defer all travel to the Crimean Peninsula, and exercise caution in the southern city of Odesa. Russian forces have occupied the Crimean Peninsula in support of the Russian Federation's claim of Crimean annexation and these forces are likely to continue to take further actions in the Crimean Peninsula consistent with its claim
