It can be considered a small island in comparison to other islands, but by human measures it is not small.
It has a number of small villages scattered on all sides of the island and the main town of Oia along with other spots on the rim of the caldera offer fantastic locations of the sunset.
There are not only bars and restaurants. There are also shops that deal with the local products, especially the wines. It is worth visiting the whole island and all its sides.
It's a fairly big island, about 15km north to south. There are a number of towns there, all of which will have bars and resaurants, but from what I recall Fira is the main tourist centre.
The Greek population of Santorini is about 6,000 scattered over about 15 villages.
