Is this safe, I'm so scared, help?!?

I'm really worried: next week my younger sister (who is 18 but looks a lot younger) is going to London for a lecture and she will have to use the underground there and back, and the place where the conference is being held is about a 10 minute walk from the underground. I am concerned that it is not safe to be in London in the evening when it will be dark and cold. It might be about 9.30pm she comes back.

Is this safe? I mean, she will probably be sticking to the main paths and there will be other people around and she is very responsible but she's never gone to London alone in the evening although she is quite good with directions and being independent. Am I being overly dramatic or is this potentially unsafe?

There will be LOTS of people around, especially in the sort of area where she would be going to a lecture, and it certainly doesn't bother all the university students there. I was a student in Kensington and it never bothered me at all. 9.30 pm isn't particularly late for being out in London - all the theatres won't have emptied out by then, for one thing!

All she has to do is just use normal common sense and keep to well-lit streets, and on the way back she will know the way.

There are thousands of people at night in London, some are still coming home from work. 9.30 is classed as early evening. Crowds go home after midnight.

Safer in London at that time than most other places in the UK.

Providing she has common sense and acts as she would anywhere (eg not walking down dark alleys alone late at night) then she should be absolutely fine.

9:30 in London - there'll be loads of people around.

GET real..Millions live in LONDON and are not attacked at every street corner..you just keep safe...

She will be fine - you have to treat her like an adult - this is really none of your business - if she is old enough to vote then she is old enough to use a bus and tube by herself.

Of course it will be safe

WTF has this got to do with you? It is perfectly safe., Now go and hide under your duvet forever
