Is a number plate set out like this legal.

OBVIOUSLY that is not my letters, but is the 2 spaces allowed?

In the current UK plates, the letters and number must be separated from each by a gap - so it must be AA 00 AAA. Putting the gap in the wrong place is illegal - it gets you pulled over by the police and a fine imposed.

Most of the other answers also fail because they are introducing a gap between the first two letters "location indicator" and the numbers, the "age indicator".

There is only one gap allowed in the number plate specification. It must be between the "age indicator" and the "random letters".

So your example must be AA00 AAA. You could be fined £1000 for getting it wrong.
