I've been living in ankara for 6 years. Traffic is not a problem even during the rush hour when compared to ?stanbul. ?ankaya District, which is the central district, and yenimahalle district are the safest areas in Ankara. However, it is a boring city. ?stanbul is a living city that never sleeps. On the other hand, in Ankara, life ends at 11:30 pm. We sometimes call it Gri ?ehir (Grey City) because of the old style grey government buildings all around you.
?stanbul, Ankara or another place. Stay away from them. Crowd really bothers u after a while. There is so few green areas everywhere is filled with crappy buildings. Don't believe that stupid photos in Internet. Don't move Turkey.
Yes it is modern looking and there is not as much as traffic like Istanbul. But if you have opportunity to live in Istanbul you should live there. I currently live in Ankara but it does not make me happy. But I think you can have a good retirement life here.
It's not very nice, there are much better places.
